Wow! I can’t believe it’s only been half of a week since I finished my second year of medical school. It seems like so much has happened since then. On Friday evening I attended Cadaver Ball, which is basically med school prom for the 1st and 2nd-year students (see my dress here). It was a blast! There were light up tambourines! And pretty dresses! That was enough to keep me amused. In true prom fashion, the class submitted superlatives. Mine was “most likely to look adorable, slay med school, and then blog about it.” I spent the rest of the weekend doing chores, meal prepping, and relaxing before my dedicated study time for the dreaded Step 1 exam.

Now I’m two days into studying for Step 1, and I’m already exhausted. I have six weeks to review the first two years of medical school. I’m trying my best to eat well, exercise, and take a little bit of “me time” every day so that I don’t get burned out over the next few weeks. I’m also renting an office space with a group of friends, so we have venting sessions during our lunch break. Even though this will be a difficult few weeks, I’m reminding myself of what a privilege it is that I get to study medicine!

  • Ever since I visited Venice a few years ago, I have loved glass sculptures. Last week we were able to visit the glass museum in Tacoma, and today we have a few hours before our flight out of Seattle so we checked out the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum. It was so beautiful! More in my stories.
  • We're leaving Victoria this evening, but I'm already planning our next trip! Victoria is a beautiful little city with the friendliest people. Here are some pics from high tea at the Fairmont Empress. I definitely felt like a princess!
  • We just spent most of our day exploring The Butchart Gardens! There were so many beautiful flowers, but these were my favorite. They're called "Fuschia".
  • We are having a blast exploring Victoria! Yesterday we strolled around downtown and bought all the souvenirs, and today we're having high tea at the Empress. I love seeing everyone's vacation pictures this time of year! Tell me where you're headed!
