Before I start sharing dressier outfits for the holidays, I wanted to showcase a casual festive outfit. This monochrome outfit is not over the top, but it makes a statement and is comfortable!

Fashion seems obsessed with the “effortlessly chic” look these days. You know, styles like messy buns, off-the-shoulder sweaters, no-makeup makeup, and the cool girl half tuck. I’ve never been a cool girl, so I definitely struggle to look effortless. For this look, I tried out the half tuck that all my favorite bloggers do so well. I liked the look, but I’m not sure I pulled it off as well as they do! I spiced up the outfit with a pair of BaubleBar tassel earrings. They’re so festive and perfect for this time of year!

I wore this outfit for a girls day with my mom. We visited the new Shreveport Aquarium, and I’m so glad we have this little gem now! I touched a jellyfish and spent time with my mom, so it was a great day. We ended our visit with lunch at SALT, the aquarium’s sustainable, locally-sourced restaurant overlooking the Red River. It was delicious! We had a lovely time, and I’m excited for more visits to the aquarium and SALT in the future.

P.S. Now that it’s November, it’s time to start thinking about the holidays! I’m a firm believer in planning gifts in advance, so I’ll be rolling out gift guides starting this Wednesday. I would love to know what other holiday content you’re interested in. Let me know in my survey here!

If you’re tired of “Pumpkin Everything” season, this blog post is not for you. If, however, orange becomes your favorite color this time of year and all you want to eat is pumpkin spice flavored things, you should keep reading because we are soul sisters. I know it may seem silly for a grown lady to want to visit a pumpkin patch but over the weekend my family indulged me. When you live in the south, fall does not mean chilly weather, so I go out of my way to enjoy other fall traditions and embrace the spirit of this time of year. If you’re not yet convinced why you should go to a pumpkin patch this year, read on!

  • I was finally back to seeing patients today after the holiday weekend was extended by TWO snow days. I was going a little crazy being cooped up inside! The clinic had faux marble counter tops, so of course I had to take a pic of my stethoscope on it. (oh, Instagram, you’re weird, but fun). #medschool #lifeloveandmedicine
